Emirates to resume flights to Tripoli

Emirates will resume passenger flights to Tripoli from September.

The Gulf carrier will operate a Boeing 777-200ER in a three-class configuration on three-weekly flights to the Libyan capital each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Beginning on September 1, the new schedule will see Emirates flight EK745 leave Dubai at 09.30, arriving in Malta at 13.25. The service departs Malta 14.45 and arrives in Tripoli at 15.55.

The return flight leaves Tripoli International Airport at 17.25 and lands in Dubai at 01.00.

Jean Luc Grillet, Emirates senior vice president commercial operations for Africa, said: "The reintroduction of our flights to Tripoli is a further boost to north Africa, coming after the launch of Emirates' daily service to Algiers from March 1.

"We have been closely monitoring the situation in Libya and feel that the time is right to relaunch our services, which will help to support business, international trade and passenger travel to and from Tripoli, as well as strengthening the country's overall infrastructure."

Tripoli has been part of Emirates' route network since March 2001, when services were launched with four flights a week.
